Carla Maxine Germann has been designing and making jewellery since the age of 14. At the age of 16 she had a fully functional jewellery design business that was exporting to the UK and USA.
She studied for a year at the Ruth Prowse School of Art and then went to Stellenbosch to complete a 4 year Bachelors Degree in Visual Arts (Creative Jewellery Design and Metal Techniques).
She then applied for an internship at the Galerie Louise Smit in Amsterdam, and simultaneously embarked on an exchange program with the University of Amsterdam where she studied a type of Art History as part of her Masters degree at the University of Stellenbosch.
She returned to South Africa in 2012 to complete her degree and graduated in March 2014.
She worked for herself in Cape Town from 2014 to 2016.
Carla is now living in Noosa, Australia, and continues to design and create her quirky beautiful pieces of contemporary jewellery from her home studio.
