I just love being a part of this most momentous occasion in your life. It's probably one of the most giddy-exciting, romantic things. With each custom engagement ring I create I imagine it being passed down from generation to generation.

There's a lot of pressure involved - not just for you, in between asking the parents, keeping this secret from the person in your life who knows everything there is to know about you, as well as sneaking around at night trying to get an idea of their ring size.

There is also a lot of pressure on my side; to design the perfect custom engagement ring that reflects the dreams of what you and your partner has always wanted; to execute it perfectly, and all the while keeping it a secret!

That last part is especially hard if the engagement ring is for one of my friends. But this is all part of the process, and I endeavor to make it the smoothest journey possible.

Some of you may come to me knowing exactly what you want. You might know all about the process and what you're looking for. Or you might not know a lot, let's be honest, this is a niche industry that only really gets its limelight at the most special of times. Don't worry, I'm here to help. With 15 years of working in the jewellery industry under my belt, I am confident I can answer almost any question you ask me.

We'll start by having an initial meeting. Either over a coffee, or a Skype session -wherever you are in the world, I'm happy to help. During this session I will asses what it is you are looking for, and also work around the budget you have in mind. If you don't know anything about any of this, this is the point where I will fill you in on the 4C's of Diamond Quality, as well as all the other incredible gems that can be used in engagement rings. Diamonds are not the one and only option in this case. Be adventurous! Add some colour. Some magic.

After this meeting I will get behind my drawing board for a few days, and sketch out all of our ideas. I'll send you these sketches, and we can see which designs resonate with you. I will then send you quotes on all the different options. Different types of metal and stones will determine the cost of the piece in the end.

Once you have approved the final quote, and a 50% deposit has been obtained, I go ahead with production -meticulously crafting your piece and sending you pictures and updates along the way.

For my international clients, this is the point where we will arrange safe shipping for your piece. And if the ring size is not a perfect fit - let me know, and I can recommend jewellers in all the big cities to help you make your piece the perfect life long companion. If you're in Sydney, just come and see me, and I'll make it fit.
