‘For a while I was unsure
Whether that star was not just the light
Of a plane, moving away.
For a while, I thought it was.
Then I looked more carefully,
Shifting my vision up, down, and sideways
Through the branches.
And there it was:
Clearly a star.
Beckoning.’

This was the poem that accompanied this spectacular ring when my client proposed to his partner.

This client approached me in the middle of COVID Lockdown here in Sydney. In a time that a lot of people were feeling uncertain of the future, he was resolute and so excited to create this beautiful piece. He told me how, to him, his partner is like the Milky Way, free spirited and shining brightly. He wanted to convey this and her love of travel in the ring. He felt strongly about using mostly Australian gemstones, so we found this incredible 2.09ct Parti Sapphire from Rubyvale in Central Queensland to represent the brightest star in the centre. This parti Sapphire has this incredible band of Teal Blue flashing throughout the centre, and this lent itself to the design, with the colours of the different gemstones in the ring sprinkled across the band in a constellation.
